Who do we support?

The IYF selects evidence led projects and programmes around the country that deliver impact across our three key focus areas for change – Education, Health & Wellbeing, and Skills & Employability. We fund a variety of grassroots and larger nationally focused organisations who have strong track records of effecting meaningful change for children and young people experiencing disadvantage.

Why do we focus on those areas

Because we know they work. In 2019 we carried out research to better understand what it means to be a young person experiencing disadvantage. The research which also incorporated insights from those on the ground, Ireland’s dedicated youth workers, led us to these three focus areas.

How that support works

The incredible support from corporate partners, generous individuals and friends of the IYF equates to practical and life enhancing support for 26,240 children and young people who otherwise would have gone without.

The funds we channel to youth projects around Ireland are made up of a wide variety of impact programmes ranging from intensive one to one interventions and support for extremely vulnerable children right through to initiatives that provide more general support that all too often many of us take for granted such as a hot meal in a safe and warm place after school with someone to help with homework or a fun day out to the cinema and a trip to McDonald’s.
